Selena Inspired Look

I am finally back with another blog post! I am slowly but surely settling into my new sewing space and my new home so I will be dedicating more time to sewing and blogging. For this blog post I wanted to sew something tropical and Selena inspired using some fabric that has been in my stash for about two years. I did post a IGTV tutorial on my Instagram showing you how I modified my legging pattern to achieve this look.

For the pants pattern I used McCalls 6173 and did a bell bottom “hack”. I just added half circles to the bottoms of my leggings and viola, super cute bell bottoms. My favorite part is that this pattern is only one piece, without the additional bell added. This pattern is super easy and quick to make and we all know how I love projects to be quick and easy.

For the top, I have been obsessed with bra tops. I mean I DO live in a tropical paradise where i can wear these kinds of things all year round so why not?! The pattern I used was simplicity 8549 and it was a super easy to make pattern. In fact both of these patterns are super easy and beginner friendly.

I think I will continue to work with knit fabrics since a lot of my stash consists of stretch fabrics. This was a quick blog post but i wanted to make sure to document this as well. Let me know if you think I Nailed a Selena inspired outfit in the comments below and make sure you check out my instagram and the IGTV tutorial i made for these super cute pants. If you are learning to sew this tutorial might just be perfect for you!

See you at the next post.

Love & Light
