Blue skies and clear waters, that is where I was headed and I needed the perfect tropical look for this trip. Right when spring was taking the turn into summer I found this beautiful pink fabric with parrots on it. Originally, I was thinking about making a whole family look with it but my husband was not too fond of the feel of this fabric. This fabric is a swishy type with a bit of a stretch but not too much. I thought and thought about it and I knew I had to make sure to make flowy shorts for sure.
With that I thought about how flowy my mixed print pants were and decided to use the same pattern and make it in shorts instead. The pattern I used was M7131. I absolutely loved the way these shorts came out, everyone kept mistaking them for a skirt and that was actually exactly what I was hoping for. I wanted a skirt without the risk of the wind showing the world my business (lol) and these shorts were perfect!
Now for the top I needed something spicy and Mimi G’s simplicity pattern s8655 was just what I was looking for. I noticed that I had bought the larger sized pattern and decided I was just going to use what I had and made the smallest size. It turned out perfect as it was slightly oversized and fit beautifully with my shorts.
This turned out to be my most tropical look yet! This outfit had me absolutely feeling myself. I felt like a tropical diva and no one could tell me a THING! These two patterns were the perfect combination for a beautiful summer look. I WILL be making these shorts again for sure!
