I have seen a ton of these macrame look bags all over the place; Wicker bags as well. Of course, I don’t want to pay for one so I went ahead and made one. I haven’t quite found a way to make a wicker bag yet but next time I am at a thrift store I will be looking through their baskets to see what I can find!
This bag took me about 2 hours to make. The materials I used were a large roll of 6mm craft rope from Hobby Lobby and acrylic rings that I bought online for a different bag I was making. I used square knots throughout the bag. To close off the bag at the bottom, I used multiple surgeons knots and glued them to make sure it was secure. Once the bag was to my liking I unraveled the extra rope that was hanging at the bottom and fluffed it up to give it that “fringey” look. The results were this beautiful macrame bag. This bag has enough space for a large wallet (like the one pictured) and a phone as well. This is the tutorial I followed but I made mine larger and with the fluff at the bottom.

Yup! I watched a couple episodes of my favorite show while making it. 😊
@islandsewcialist – So believe it or not I have been looking at macrame videos on youtube for the last year with the intention of making home decor and bags but I haven’t attempted any yet. I don’t know why I am so intimidated. But with this style of bag priced at over $100 here, I better throw my fear out the window fast because I am not paying that! Yours is super cute and very inspiring. Love the bright colour too.

Wow $100? I though $22 at forever 21 was too much! I only paid $8 for the roll and it was enough to make 2 bags but i made a belt instead. The rigs you can find online for like $2-$3 each or use the wooden letter O like on the tutorial as the handles. You should definitely give it a try!
I love this bag!!!! It would be perfect for me in the summer!!!! @iesha_plus2 keep up the amazing work.
