I haven’t been very dedicated to my blog, I must admit, but I am hoping to write more about the projects I work on. For this post, I wanted to talk about my mixed print pants that I recently made. I have received almost 120 likes and several comments and shares on. I believe they were highly loved if I do say so myself. I do, however, have to give credit (because they highly deserve it) to Michael and his daughter Ava over at @daddydressedmebymg. I was inspired by a post of Ava rocking a daddy made pair of mixed plaid print pants. I loved them so much that the image stuck with me. I am not much of a winter fashion sewer, I like spring and summer better. I had been eyeing this rose print fabric but in red tones for Valentines day but didn’t have enough time in February to sew anything with it so I never bought it. Finally, once March arrived, I told myself I was going to remake Ava’s pants with that fabric, instead of plaids I was going to go floral.
Unfortunately, the red tone rose fabric was all gone, BUT, I DID find it in teal and purple tones. The day I was at the fabric store my 9 year old son actually helped me choose the fabrics since I was having such a hard time. I feel that children are so free spirited that they can think better, they’re not clouded by “what would people think” thoughts. I really enjoyed the flow of the colors and the prints for these pants.
For the construction of the pants, I used M7131, view E, and I modified the legs by cutting each one into 3 sections. For the top I cut at the line for view B and then evenly cut the last 2 sections. I did this with both the front and back pattern pieces. For the pockets and the waistband I also used alternating fabrics just to tie it all together.
I styled the pants with an off the shoulder palm print top from my instagram shop @tanamafashion, a brown belt and some earring from @xtrabystacey that I won in a giveaway.. To be honest I was kind of worried about this combo. There was no green or brown in the pants so I was skeptical to pair the top and the belt with it, until I put it on. I decided to skip the doubt and just wear it, I was right because it was highly loved!
I hope you all enjoy this look and I hope to be back soon logging my next project!
